Hi, I'm Inara.

I started photography in 2018, at the beginning of our IVF journey. I had hoped to document what it took for us to reach parenthood, for our children to one day look back on. I never expected it to take years, multiple doctors, and a whole lot of finger-crossing.

Although our medical team were hopeful that IVF would be straightforward for us, it was instead filled with many twists and turns, failures, and heartbreak. After five transfer cycles, numerous surgeries, countless medications, and a lot of tears, we finally found out I was pregnant.

During the time it took to conceive our daughter, I offered photo sessions to help pay for the treatments. IVF and infertility are incredibly expensive, and not usually covered by insurance. We not only had to pay countless medical bills, but also lots of hidden expenses, like gas for the constant trips to the fertility clinic, and medications and supplements to give the cycles the best chance of working. We were so lucky that after many tries, a lot of disappointment, and even more hope, IVF finally gave us lovely baby Astrid.

Although infertility was a heart-wrenching experience, it let me discover something - I absolutely loved photography. I loved chasing the light, meeting the people. I loved hearing people's stories about their babies, their graduations, their family events. I loved the joy people found in the images I could make. And I realized that this was where I was meant to be.
